Guide
Website redesign vs rebuild
The right choice saves months of rework. Use this decision lens before you sign a scope.
Choose redesign when…
- The stack is stable, secure, and fast enough; the problem is messaging, layout, or conversion.
- You need faster time-to-market and can ship iterative releases.
- SEO and URLs are already strong — you want to preserve equity while improving UX.
Choose rebuild when…
- Technical debt blocks features (auth, i18n, CMS, performance budgets).
- The product has outgrown the original architecture (e.g. marketing site → real app).
- Maintenance cost exceeds the cost of a controlled migration with redirects and QA.
Hybrid path
Often the answer is redesign in phases on a new foundation: migrate critical templates first, redirect old URLs, then retire legacy sections. We plan migrations so rankings and analytics stay traceable.
